Here's what our parents and former students have to say about us!
My brother Michael and I enjoyed learning Spanish in Elementary school. Though we had to wake up earlier than usual, we had a great time learning and you made class very enjoyable for us. Now, looking back, we are grateful to have been able to take a Spanish class so early on in our education. It prepared us for middle school and high school Spanish classes because we walked in already knowing the majority of we were being taught.
We definitely noticed advantages to learning the language, in that Spanish is becoming a language that people all over are speaking. There are a lot of Spanish speaking people in the USA now and it is good for everyone to know at least some Spanish. To learn the culture and be able to understand it.
Michael went on and advanced greatly in high school and even was offered a spot in middle school to take Spanish in 8th grade when foreign language classes were very competitive to get in to. HE went on and entered high school advancing to Spanish 2 as a freshman, and took AP (Advanced Placement; College level) Spanish, Senior year of high school which is a very difficult class to take. Michael became fluent in Spanish.
I advanced in high school as well. I stuck with Spanish through Senior year of high school and I learned a lot. Though I am not as good at Spanish as Michael is, I do still know a lot of Spanish.
Now, Spanish has helped me a lot. When we travel to Spanish speaking countries, we never have to worry about not knowing how to communicate with the people who live there. When we travel, we meet people from Spanish speaking countries and we keep in contact with them. I met people 4 years ago on vacation and they are from Monterrey, Mexico, and we still talk quite often.
I am presently in college studying to be a nurse. Spanish is something I will be able to use to communicate if one of my patients does not speak English and only speaks Spanish. I will be able to communicate with them, find out what is wrong, and help them. Spanish is definitely a language that everyone should know and be able to speak, at least a little bit.
Michael and I both excelled in Spanish. Our grades were always above average. I do not think that I ever got below an A- in Spanish, and Michael has never gotten below an A- either. We believe that a part of our success is due to your class. Your class laid a foundation for us to learn and be able to build off for the rest of our education.
We are so grateful for you and your class. It comes very highly recommended!
My kids absolutely love going to class. They have learned so much and it has even put them on the track to asking me in their day to day lives "Mommy, how do you say that in Spanish?" Fun new phrase in our house "Cómo se dice?" with anything and everything. Thank you so much, I look forward to many more classes to come.
We have two children involved in an after school program at their elementary school. We are amazed at what they have learned and retained during the first and second sessions. In 15 weeks they know more than I did in two years of high school Spanish classes. The fact that they incorporate Latin American and Spanish customs into the lessons is just icing on the cake. My kids will take these classes for years to come!!!
My oldest daughter took a few of these classes in elementary school, and she was able to take "Spanish 1" in 8th grade. As a sophomore, she's in Honors Spanish 3! My youngest daughter is hoping to repeat that success. She took the early-morning classes her entire elementary school career. I don't know of many reasons for a kid to want to get up early for a before-school class, but the lessons and activities were so diverse and fun, and she was loathe to miss. Special guests and celebrations and crafts rounded out her experience. We are very grateful our school offered this program, and we applaud the staff for providing such a fun learning environment that gave our girls a life-long love of language and culture.
As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to thank you for all that you have done to acquaint our daughter with a new language and a culture different from our own. She has fun learning, and we appreciate your care in exposing her to the exciting World of Spanish. Gracias! We appreciate your role in her learning experience!
